1st Hospitality & Leisure: Business Advances and Applied Research Conference

Lausanne, SwitzerlandThe Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), the world's first school of hospitality management founded in 1893, is proud to host the first "Hospitality and Leisure: Business Advances and Applied Research" conference.
Dr. Thouraya Gherissi Labben, head of Lausanne Hospitality Research, EHL's applied research division, in partnership with Dr. Joseph Chen, professor from the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies at Indiana University in Bloomington (USA), have collaborated to develop this unique conference which will bring together hospitality academics and industry professionals creating a community of mutual learning.

CONFERENCE CONCEPT: The Hospitality and Leisure conference has been designed to concentrate on original content with a unique structure focusing on the following characteristics:
- Learning experience for both academia and professionals
- Presentations exclusively focused on applied outcomes/research
- Bridging the gap between academia and industry
- Reflections oriented towards concrete actions
- Human-scale event facilitating close networking opportunities

Forrester Research estimates that 32% of hotels‟ revenues come through online bookings. This includes brand.com bookings and those made through third-party websites such as Expedia and Priceline. Forrester Research also estimates that the overall travel industry allocates 29% of its marketing budget to online, including search, display, mobile, social and so on. Travel allocates more of its budget to online media than any other industry. Approximately 62% of a travel company‟s interactive marketing budget is currently allocated to search engine marketing.
