15 October 2008
University of Houston
United States - Houston, TX

Established in 1995, the Hospitality Industry Hall of Honor recognizes those leaders in the hospitality industry who have made extraordinary contributions to American business, international business and society. Permanent displays in the Hall of Honor, the Leaders Gallery and the Hospitality Archives at the Conrad N. Hilton College memorialize the inductees’ achievements and leadership—providing a lasting tribute to the companies they conceived and built during their lifetimes.

The honorees for 2008 are S. Truett Cathy, founder and chairman of Chick-fil-A, Inc., the second-largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United States based on annual sales; Sir Rocco Forte, chairman of The Rocco Forte Collection, the luxury hotel company that he founded in 1996; and Steve Rushmore, president and founder of HVS, a global hospitality consulting organization with more than 25 offices around the world. Visit the inductees to learn more about these industry leaders and the other hospitality giants who are honored here.

The 2008 Hall of Honor induction ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, with a reception starting at 6 p.m. The official induction ceremony is slated for 6:45 p.m. in the Conrad Hilton Grand Ballroom of the Hilton University of Houston Hotel. How Hotel Guests Perceive the Fairness of Differential Room Pricing
When customers perceived hotel revenue management practices to be fair, they are more likely to be satisfied with the hotel and are more likely to return to that hotel in the future. In this survey of 815 people, we examined the effects of three factors on the respondents' assessment of the fairness of hotel rate policies. Those three factors were familiarity with the practice, provision of information about the practice, and the brand class of the hotel. Of those three, we found that familiarity with a pricing practice was far and away the most important factor affecting perceived fairness. The implication is that revenue managers should focus their efforts on increasing guests' familiarity with their pricing practices. (PDF Document)
