STR: US Hotel Results Week Ending 17 March
The U.S. hotel industry experienced increases in all three key performance metrics during the week of 11-17 March 2012, according to data from STR. In year-over-year comparisons for the week, occupancy was up 2.2 percent to 65.8 percent, average daily rate increased 4.7 percent to US$107.15 and revenue per available room was up 7.0 percent to US$70.51.

The Americas region recorded positive results in the three key performance metrics when reported in U.S. dollars for February 2012, according to data compiled by STR and STR Global. The Americas region reported a 3.1-percent increase in occupancy to 57.7 percent, a 3.8-percent gain in average daily rate to US$106.53 and 7.0-percent jump in revenue per available room to US$61.49.

Hotel Websites Increased Share of Bookings in Every Quarter in 2011 Among Individual Business and Leisure Travelers
In 2011, room nights booked through hotel websites grew consistently in each quarter, growing 6.8 percent in the fourth quarter compared to the same time in 2010, according to data from the Fourth Quarter 2011 TravelClick North American Distribution Review (NADR), which aggregates hotel bookings by channel for the transient travel segment (individual leisure and business travelers).
