Camp Silver

Camp Silver is a new outdoor hotel in the middle of the thoroughly Dutch West Frisian island of Texel. It’s an exceptional accommodation, unique in the Netherlands and in Europe, combining the freedom of the Airstream trailer with the comforts and service of a luxury hotel.

Eight silver Airstream trailers are placed in a rural environment. They were transported from America and especially designed for Camp Silver by Christopher Deam from San Francisco, in co-operation with Airstream. Newly built in accordance with the same principles that were used to design the first models in the thirties, inspired by the aircraft design in those days. With bent aluminum plates, manually welded together with hundreds of blind rivets.

The interior of each Airstream has been designed as a stylish hotel room with a bathroom and luxurious facilities like air conditioning, underfloor heating, LCD television and Internet. Use was made of ideas and materials of known brands and designers, such as Charles & Ray Eames (soft furnishings) and Frettes (bathroom linen).

There are also two eye-catching dome tents at Camp Silver. The dome constructions of the spherical tents are self-supporting, as invented by the American architect Richard Buckminster Fuller in the sixties. The large Pacific Dome in the central field has been turned into a lounge and a breakfast room. Breakfast mainly consists of organic products from the island and from the region.

Camp Silver is a luxurious camp with a high standard of quality, service and comfort. This concept has already been realized in Africa and Australia. The retro-futuristic designs of the Airstreams and the dome tents in the vast Texel landscape make Camp Silver a unique destination. For more information: www.campsilver.nl.
