EDMONTON, AB - For Epsilon Chemicals, also known as E-Chem, new research and development initiatives focused on eco-friendly sanitation solutions for the oil and gas industry are proving to be steps in the right direction. In light of recent attention on the oil and gas sector and the pressure to increase the industry's environmental consciousness, E-Chem has found an opportunity to work alongside oil and gas companies to provide environmentally friendly, high-quality, cost-effective sanitation solutions designed to replace hazardous solvents presently used.

"We have been working with oil and gas companies to create customized and practical sanitation solutions," explained Colm O'Carroll, owner of E-Chem, which is based out of the Edmonton Research Park. "We have had great progress in the food processing industry and now we have a great opportunity to partner with businesses in the oil and gas sector to provide eco-friendly solutions." In the past, companies have used inexpensive hazardous solvents which contain petroleum distillates and other organic solvent materials. Cathedral Energy, based out of the Nisku Industrial Park, is one example of a company trying to do things the eco-friendly way.

"Cathedral Energy wanted to move away from hazardous solvents used to remove the sealant for fastening pipes. E-Chem created a solution at called the Hot Tank Cleaner that is solvent-free," said O'Carroll. DMK Drilling Fluids is another company based in Edmonton, Calgary and Grande Prairie which has had much success with the alternative hazardous chemical free solutions. Founded in 1990, the research and development industry leader has taken great pride in providing unique, cost-effective solutions. Strategically located in the Edmonton Research Park -- an advanced technology centre which provides space and entrepreneurial support to Edmonton's start-up technology companies — E-Chem invests valuable resources to further the development in quality products and services.

"We are pushing to expand our products and services into other markets particularly Ontario, where we see great potential to increase our business base. Our goal is to do our part to continue to enhance the local and global economies," said O'Carroll. "We will also be expanding our operations within the Edmonton Research Park." Innovative research and development has garnered E-Chem provincial award recognition for their environmental best practices.

The Edmonton Alberta Research Park works to attract and retain visionary business leaders to build next generation technology, enhancing Edmonton's position in the global economy and overall quality of life. "It is encouraging to see companies like E-Chem excel and grow," said Candace Brinsmead, Vice-President of Technology Advancement of the Edmonton Research Park. "Our success at the research park is a result of our innovative tenants who, through new technologies and research have gained national and international attention."

Best Practices for Hotel Websites Analytics
HSMAI and Vizergy White Paper, Written by Tim Peter. Hotel marketers face many challenges in using analytics. But most common among these may be knowing where to begin. While powerful tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Omniture SiteCatalyst and Webtrends exist to help marketers understand their marketing activities, many hotel marketers struggle with separating the wheat from the chaff and zeroing in on the information that matters most. As one director of marketing noted, “Sometimes you get into the analytics and you can’t get out, so I try not to get too hung up in the minutia of the data.” (PDF Document, 2,070.66 KB)
