25th EuroCHRIE Conference - Leeds - UK

As part of this year's 25th anniversary celebrations, "César Ritz" Colleges Switzerland (CRC) sponsored the Gala Diner at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, England. This prestigious gala event was the highlight of the 25th EuroCHRIE Conference.

As part of this year's 25th anniversary celebrations, "César Ritz" Colleges Switzerland (CRC) sponsored the Gala Diner at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, England. This prestigious gala event was the highlight of the 25th EuroCHRIE Conference. CRC gained considerable visibility in Leeds not only through this sponsorship but also due to the active participation of six UCCR/ IHCR faculty and staff members who attended the conference and presented the following papers:

Barbara Hoffman, "Personality as an indicator of organisational commitment";

Hérve Fournier (co-author Dr. V. Velo), "Connecting research, teaching and the student experience in innovative ways through participation at major sports events showcasing on the House of Switzerland in the Olympic games in Athens and Torino";

Jebril Alhelalat, "Branding hotel schools in relation to their partnerships with the hospitality industry" (Jebril is a UCCR MSc. graduate and is currently a doctoral student at Manchester Metropolitan University);

Kate Varini (Oxfod Brookes Uni.) presented the paper written by our BIB graduate Jochen Pelz, "Customer perceptions of revenue management strategies in mid-scale restaurants in the Upper-Valais Switzerland”.



In addition to these contributions, Dr Michael Vieregge led a special interest session on "Casinos, Gaming Research and Education".


For information, the European Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (EuroCHRIE) is the official federation for Europe, the Mediterranean Basin, the Middle East and Africa. It is part of International CHRIE, the leading international organisation that supports education and training for the world's largest industry. EuroCHRIE represents more than 200 I-CHRIE members. Conferences take place each year in Asia, USA and Europe. Next year's EuroCHRIE conference will take place in Dubai. Hérve Fournier served as EuroCHRIE President in 2003-04 and currently holds the position of Treasurer. He also sits on the Strategic Planning Committee of I-CHRIE. Susan Fournier has been elected this year as Director of Conferences.
